Allegany County’s broad-based information technology community has banded together to strengthen workforce development in a proposed new training initiative at Allegany College of Maryland.

This Strategic Industry Partnership (SIP), which includes many key area stakeholders, is seeking to establish and IT Center for Excellence that will prepare a strong workforce to satisfy a growing number of jobs foreseen in information technology.

The goal of this 15-member group representing IT, education, government and economic development is to put Allegany County at the center of a technology-ready region that strengthens existing IT employers and attracts new ones.

The local group is actively seeking additional partners who have a vested interest in joining Allegany County’s IT SIP. Interested employers and stakeholders should contact Autumn Becker, Director of Workforce Development in Allegany College of Maryland’s Center of Continuing Education, at [email protected] or 301-784-5434.
