Cumberland’s Baltimore Street Revitalization Earns International Bronze Excellence Award
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cumberland, MD — July 10, 2025 — The Cumberland Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) is proud to announce that the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) has honored the Baltimore Street Revitalization Project with a 2025 Bronze Excellence in Economic Development Award in the Real Estate Redevelopment & Reuse category. The annual program recognizes outstanding economic-development initiatives from around the world and showcases projects that deliver measurable community impact.
“This award shines a global spotlight on the hard work, vision, and collaboration that went into re-energizing our historic main street,” said Matt Miller, Executive Director/President of CEDC. “Baltimore Street’s renaissance is proof that when we invest in place-making, small-business growth, and community pride, the entire region moves forward together.”
A transformational project driving new growth
Re-opened to the public in November 2024 after a two-year construction effort, the Baltimore Street Revitalization introduced wider café-ready sidewalks, added green space, modern utilities, and a carefully designed one-way traffic lane that welcomes pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles alike. Since breaking ground, 13 new businesses have opened downtown, with five more on the way, underscoring the project’s role as a catalyst for private investment and job creation.
